Waiora Settles Class Action Over ‘Natural Cellular Defense’ Misrepresentations

Supplement maker Waiora LLC has agreed to settle a class action for $12 million. The lawsuit alleged the company’s mineral-enhanced anti-aging product consisted of mostly water.

Class members will be eligible to receive a free three-pack of Natural Cellular Defense or NCD — produced after October 2011 — with a value of $150 each. The lawsuit charged Waiora of deceiving consumers through false advertisements on NCD labels. The company claimed the products had a certain concentration of immune-boosting volcanic minerals called zeolites. However, in actuality, Waiora knew the product had less than 10% of the zeolite pledged on the label from 2008 to October 2011, the lawsuit said.
