-Let God Be True
-By: Henry Morris, Ph.D.

“For what if some did not believe? Shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect? God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar: as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged” (Romans 3:3,4). bible

Many Christians are so intimidated by the arrogant unbelief of the supposed intellectuals of the world that they either reject or compromise or ignore the difficult teachings of Scripture. This is a grievous mistake, for all of God’s “sayings” are “justified” and He will surely “overcome” all those who presume to “judge” Him and His word.

The only reason to believe in evolution, for example, is the fact that most such intellectuals believe it. There is no real evidence, either in the Bible or in science, for evolution or any other form of unbelief, yet many professed believers in Christ seem to have “loved the praise of men more than the praise of God” (John 12:43). Therefore they assume that God does not really mean what He says in His word, thereby making faith in His word “without effect.”

God’s truth is not determined, however, by taking a vote, or by the opinions of skeptics, or by metaphysical speculation. It is determined by God Himself, and none other, “for the word of the LORD is right; and all His works are done in truth” (Psalm 33:4).

Therefore, as our text commands: “Let God be true, but every man a liar.” The very criterion of truth is the word of God. It is good to explain God’s word to those open to its truth, but never to explain it away, by some compromising accommodation to current scientism. “Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever” (Psalm 119:160).

The Lord Jesus confessed, unreservedly: cross “Thy word is truth” (John 17:17), and so should we.

-The King Does Not Condemn!
-John 3:11-21

"For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned..." (John 3:17-18) cross

IN our personal relationship with the Lord Jesus, we come to know His voice (John 10:14). It is often a convicting voice--a check in our spirit, a nudge from the Word, a point in a sermon which comes with all the freshness and authority of the King's command. Often it is an encouraging voice or a voice that compels attention.

One thing it never will be is a voice of condemnation. It is the voice of One who comes that we "may have life, and have it to the full" (John 10:10).

A condemning voice comes from the accuser of the brethren (Revelation 12:10). The word accuser in the Greek means prosecutor. But no case can be brought against us because Jesus died on the cross to take the blame for our sins (Romans 8:32-35).

King Jesus is constantly building us up, not pulling us down, showing us a better way that does not lead to despair by condemning us. In Hebrew the word accuser is "hasatan," or Satan. We must never accept his distinctively condemnatory voice as the voice of the Good Shepherd, our King, Jesus the Christ.
---
In our often unsatisfactory lives, the distinctive voice of unfailing, unconditional love can always be recognized. That's our KING! CHRIST JESUS, King of kings and Lord of lords.

-The Builder of the House

"He who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house. For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God." (Hebrews 3:3-4) crackthebook

Perhaps the single greatest category of evidence for supernatural creation is in the nature of the creation itself, which everywhere shows such intricate design that it could not have come about by random chance. Consider the earth: Its size, mass, distance from the sun and moon, rotational wobble, chemical makeup, etc., are critical within very narrow limits. Any significant deviation in any of these, or other characteristics, would make life impossible.

But inorganic molecules, planets, and galaxies are simpler by several orders of magnitude than even the tiniest living organism. The marvelous genetic code which regulates life, growth, and reproduction, is so unthinkably complex, so obviously designed, that it would take a "willingly . . . ignorant" (2 Peter 3:5) mind to conclude a naturalistic origin for it. Life at every stage and at every level of investigation shows symmetry in its order, purpose in its function, and interdependence between its parts; all of these are clear marks of design by an intelligent designer.

The evidence speaks so eloquently that even "the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse" (Romans 1:20) if they choose not to believe, and therefore to merit and face His wrath (v. 18).

"All things were created by him, and for him" (Colossians 1:16). cross Mankind can take no pride in it nor rebellious solace in the idea of naturalistic origin, for "thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created" Revelation 4:11).

-Those Who Depart
-By: Henry Morris, Ph.D.
--- bible
“They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us” (I John 2:19).

One of the most hurtful experiences in the life of a Bible-believing fellowship is when an ostensibly Christian leader, teacher, or pastor decides to abandon his faith and even to teach against it. This sort of thing does happen, all too often, and it obviously raises difficult questions.

Can a true believer, a teacher of the word, a soul-winner, actually lose his salvation? Can a born-again Christian go back and be unborn? Can one who has received everlasting life through faith in Christ not really have eternal life?

If so, what about the many promises which have assured us that “ye may know that ye have eternal life” (I John 5:13) and that we “shall never perish” (John 10:28)?

The answer to this vexing question is apparently in our text verse above. When such people, who once seemed to be genuine Christians become apostates, denouncing the truth they once taught, it is because “they were not of us” at all, no matter what they professed at one time.

This fact implies a sober warning. When professing Christians once fall away, assuming they have truly understood the facts and evidences of the Christian faith, it is impossible “to renew them again unto repentance, seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put Him to an open shame” (Hebrews 6:6).

How important it is, therefore, for all professing believers to “give diligence to make your calling and election sure” (II Peter 1:10).

We must be “rooted and built up in Him” (Colossians 2:7). “ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear” (I Peter 3:15).

--The Only Theologian / cross Jesus!

-Jesus claims to be, not a top theologian, an accomplished theologian, or even the Supreme Theologian, but rather the Only Theologian. "No one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son" (Matthew 11:27). He does not say, "No one really knows the Father like the Son" or "in the fashion of the Son." But rather, "Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son."

Heaven's door has one key, and Jesus holds it.

Think of it this way. You're a fifth grader studying astronomy. The day you read about the first mission to the moon, you and your classmates pepper the teacher with space-travel questions.

"What does moondust feel like?"
"Can you swallow when there's no gravity?"
"What about going to the bathroom?"

The teacher does the best she can but prefaces most replies with "I would guess..." or "I think,..." or "Perhaps..."

How could she know? She's never been there. But the next day she brings a guest who has. Neil Armstrong enters the room. Yes, the "one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind" Neil Armstrong.

"Now ask your questions," the teacher invites. And Astronaut Armstrong answers each with certainty. He knows the moon, he's walked on it. No speculation or hesitation--he speaks with conviction.

So did Jesus. "He taught them as one having authority" (Matthew 7:29). Jesus knows the dimensions of God's throne room, the fragrance of its incense, the favorite songs of the unceasing choir. He has a unique, one-of-a-kind, unrivaled knowledge of God and wants to share His knowledge with you. "Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him" (Matthew 11:27).

Jesus doesn't boast in His knowledge, He shares it. He doesn't gloat; He gives. He doesn't revel; He reveals. He reveals to us the secrets of eternity.

-The Reality of God

"So we are always of good courge. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight." - 2 Corinthians 5:6-7 bible

-I was reading an article not long ago about what scientists call "parallel realities." Essentially, it means an unseen reality that exists alongside something that is seen. You and I may not see it or fully experience it, but that doesn't mean it's not real.

You see, every person has his own perceived reality. But beyond that concept of reality there are also unseen realities. For example, a blind person has never seen a cloud, but that doesn't mean clouds don't exist. In fact, they're just as real for the blind person as they are for someone who can walk outside and see them. cloud9

And certainly, this concept is true concerning faith as well. I've never personally seen God. In fact, the Bible says no one has (John 1:18). And I've never shaken hands with Jesus Christ. But I believe that God is more real than the words on this page.

I've heard people say that when it comes to faith, "Give me something of substance. Give me something real." Well, faith is real! In fact, faith in God will be around long after this world is gone and finished.

So when it comes to your faith, get rid of any abstract ethereal concept of God because He is more real than anything you'll ever experience!

God is more real than anything you'll experience. So have faith that He exists today and He wants a relationship with you!

It's easy to get confused discussing things we don't clearly see. It's even easier when someone's trying to confuse us. There is one mistake I'd like to caution people to avoid.

The term 'dimension' refers to a very specific, easily identified concept, if you think about it. A dimension is simply a direction in which something may possibly move. It is nothing more, nothing less.

One may refer to alternative realms using accurate terms, as seen above. An alternative "reality" is a coherent concept; one might even call it "parallel", although that's unnecessary until some actual parallel aspect is established.

The point I would like to stress is that "parallel dimension" - a term often encountered, and often employed without thought - is incoherent and erroneous. There are exactly three dimensions, and this observation is easily confirmed by experiment. Any talk of additional dimensions is contradictory to reality, for if such dimensions existed, objects would have the capacity to move in those directions.

I certainly believe heaven exists. It makes sense that there are more realms. What I point out here is simply that referring to such realms as "dimensions" is an easily-avoided mistake.

Thank you CTD,
I was just reading last night from "Thru the Bible" with J. Vernon McGee [1904-1988]. He was a very learned Bible Teacher.

Referring to Genesis 1:8 / "And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day."
"God called the firmament Heaven." This is not heaven as you and I think of it. Actually, there are three heavens that are mentioned in Scripture. The Lord Jesus spoke of the birds of heaven, and I think that is the heaven mentioned in this verse. Then there are the stars of heaven, meaning the second heaven, and there is the third heaven where God dwells. So the first layer up there, the first deck, is the deck where the clouds are and where the birds fly."

-Regarding the topic, "Let God Be True"
I'm adding a post by David Wilkerson. God knows what He is doing. We are called to TRUST HIM.

-- ARE YOU MAD AT GOD?
-By: David Wilkerson

[May 19, 1931 - April 27, 2011]

I believe there is nothing more dangerous to a Christian than to carry around resentment against God. I am shocked by the growing number of believers who hold some kind of grudge against Him. Why? They are convinced He does not care
because He hasn't answered a particular prayer or acted on their behalf.

Jonah had a missionary call from God and he went to Nineveh to preach the message of judgment he had received. After
delivering the message, Jonah sat on a hillside, waiting for God to begin the judgment. But forty days passed and
nothing had happened. Why? Because Nineveh had repented and God had changed His mind about destroying them!

Most rage against God begins with a disappointment. God may call us, burden us and send us. Then, when things do not go as we had planned, we may feel misled or betrayed. God understands our cries of pain and confusion. After all, our
cry is a human one. And it is no different from Jesus' cry on the cross: "Father, why have You forsaken Me?"

If we continue nursing a peeved spirit, it will grow into rage. And God will ask us the same question He asked Jonah: "Doest thou well to be angry?" (Jonah 4:9). In other words, "Do you think you have a right to be so angry?" bible

Jonah answered, "I do well to be angry, even unto death" (same verse). This prophet was so full of rage at God, that he said, "I don't care whether I live or die. My ministry is a failure. I have every right to be angry with Him."

God's Word says there is hope. "Refrain thy voice from weeping, and thine eyes from tears: for thy work shall be rewarded, saith the Lord" (Jeremiah 31:16). In other words, "Stop complaining. I'm going to reward your
faithfulness."

"Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord" (1 Corinthians 15:58).

Beloved, your cries and prayers have not been in vain. All your pain and tears have been for a purpose. God is telling you, "You think it's all over. You see only your failure and ruin, with no results. So you say, ‘This is the end.’
But I say it is the beginning. I see the reward that I am about to pour out on you. I have good things in mind for you—wonderful things. So, stop your crying!"

-----
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding. In all you ways acknowledge Him and he will make your path straight." TRUST IN THE LORD!

--By His Doing
--By: John D. Morris, Ph.D.

“But of Him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption” (I Corinthians 1:30).
cross

In this one verse we find described four aspects of Christ’s work on our behalf. As we look at each one, let us first note that it is “of Him,” literally “by His doing” that we are in Christ Jesus, who “is made” or “who became” these things to us and for us.

-Wisdom of God:
This is the preferred rendering. Paul was writing to the church at Corinth (a Greek city). The Greeks were infatuated with wisdom, but Paul declared Christ Jesus to be the “wisdom of God.” Such wisdom is likewise imparted to believers (v.24) while “the foolishness of God is wiser than men” (v.25).

-Righteousness:
Christ, being “made” righteousness becomes an all-sufficient righteousness to us. This imputed rightness before God gives us a new standing before Him, permitting us access to Him, peace with Him, and ultimate glory with Him.

-Sanctification: In Christ, we not only have this righteous standing, we are assured of a holy state as well. Through the work of the indwelling Holy Spirit, we know that our lives will be constantly molded into Christ-likeness.

-Redemption: Christ is made redemption for us, and in its fullest definition, this is His final goal. Through His redemptive work, we have been completely delivered from the power of sin, and will one day be delivered from the presence of sin.

The introductory phrase “of Him,” or “by His doing,” is emphatic in the Greek text. When we see what He has done, we realize just how helpless we were, and how strongly He has acted on our behalf.

--KNOWING CHRIST~~

"That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead." (Philippians 3:10-11)- bible
~~~~~~~~
-WHEN Paul speaks of knowing the Lord Jesus, he stresses the process involved in reaching the desired level of knowledge. These particular points of awareness (knowing the resurrection power, the fellowship of sufferings, and being conformed to His death) are not mere academic achievements, but part of the process of experiencing life and personal study of God's Word that produces confident knowledge.
John's letter gives several key signs on how to "know" the Savior, one of which is keeping God's commandments (1 John 2:3-5). The lifestyle of obedience (process of godliness) provides the experience that produces the knowledge.
Paul's reference to the power of the resurrection is reflected in the wonderful promise of Ephesians 1:17-21. There, Paul says we can know the "exceeding greatness of his power" which was demonstrated in the resurrection of our Lord Jesus--that very power being beyond anything that can be observed in this or any age to come.
The fellowship that we now share in Christ's sufferings is merely the process by which we are "being made conformable unto his death" (today's verse). Paul noted that we were "crucified with Christ" but are still "living [sacrifices]" so that we can prove the "good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God," having been transformed by our renewed minds (Romans 12:1-2).
These many life processes are what our gracious God has decreed for our ultimate eternal possession--being "conformed to the image of his Son" (Romans 8:2).~~~
--"I Am" in the Pentateuch
--"And he said unto him, I am the LORD that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it." (Genesis 15:7)
---- bible
There are seven "I am's" in the book of Genesis. The first is a beautiful figure of speech ("I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward" |Genesis 15:1|), but the others are all names and titles of God. The first of these is in our text above, identifying Jehovah Himself (the LORD) with the "I am."
The next is Genesis 17:1: "I am the Almighty God." The Hebrew here is El Shaddai ("God the nourishing sustainer"), also found in 35:11. Next is in 26:24: "I am the God of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I am with thee." Then, "I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac" (28:13). "I am the God of Bethel" (31:13). Beth-el means "the house of God." Finally, God says: "I am God, the God of thy father" (46:3).
In Exodus, there are 21 places where God says "I am." Most of these are merely variations of the different names of God as noted above in the "I am's" of Genesis, but six do give new insight. The first, of course, is the great assertion of Exodus 3:14 where God identifies Himself as "I AM THAT I AM." The others: "I am the LORD in the midst of the earth" (8:22); "I am the LORD that healeth thee" (15:26); "I the LORD thy God am a jealous God" (20:5); "For I am gracious" (22:27); "I am the LORD that doth sanctify you" (31:13).
In the remaining books of the Pentateuch, the phrase "I am the LORD your God" occurs very frequently, but there are two important new "I am's." "I am holy" occurs six times (e.g., Leviticus 11:45), and "I am thy part and thine inheritance" is recorded in Numbers 18:20. The great theme of all these claims and names of God is that the mighty God of time and space is also a caring, personal God. We can trust Him, and He cares for us.
--DO YOU LIVE TO SERVE OR TO BE SERVED?
"In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'" -(ACTS 20:35) - angelwing
--THE great military hero General Douglas MacArthur once said, "There is no security on this earth; there is only opportunity. Empty your days of search of security and fill them with a passion for service."
Do you resonate with that statement? Do you have a passion to serve the King of kings and the Lord of lords? Do you have a plan as to how you're going to witness for Jesus Christ to your family and your friends? If only the people of God today would heed that call abandon themselves to services!
But unfortunataely today, the church has fallen into a consumer mentality. Instead of seeing themselves as a Battleship engaged in warfare, they'd much rather be a Cruise Ship, living comfortably in the confines of a controlled space where their ever need is met.
In the spiritual life, you either live to serve or you live to be served. When you go to church, do you go to worship and serve, or to be entertained? Do you go to work each day just so you can earn money, or do you see it as a place God has put you to invest in His Kingdom?
Live to serve. Don't just be a consumer; become a contributor. And above all else, give everything you have for the glory of God!
--ARE YOU REALLY COMMITTED?
"Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established." --Proverbs 16:3
-I picked up an article years ago with the headline, "Fewer than 10 Percent of American are Deeply Committed Christians." It was from pollster George Gallup Jr., who commented on the findings "(The 10% who are committed) are more tolerant of people of diverse backgrounds, they are more involved in charitable activities, and they are far happier than the rest of the population."
But then he went on to observe, "Most Americans who profess Christianity don't know the basic teachings of the faith and they don't act significantly different from non-Christians in their daily lives. Overall," he added, "the Sunday school and religious education system in this country is not working. Not being grounded in the faith, these professing believers are 'open for anything that comes along.'"
This is a very sad reality that we face in our churches today. It makes me sad about those 90%... and it breaks my heart that they want to identify with Jesus Christ, but not to the point they're truly committed. At the same time, the poll above is correct that, for years, our system for religious education in many churches was not up to par, and in my many ways still isn't.
When it comes to the cause of Christ, I pray that we become a people of God who are sold out to His purposes. Commit yourself to God today, and live your life fully for Him!
--ATTRACTING OTHERS
--Colossians 4:2-6
------
'Walk in wisdom
--Colossians 4:5
--THE story is told of a young boy who, during a bygone era, was aboard a passenger train attempting to make money selling apples. He made his way through the train car, saying, "Apples! Would you like to buy an apple?" When he got to the rear of the car, he still had a bagful of apples and no money.
A gentleman who noticed his plight asked to see one of the apples. He proceeded to go to the front of the train, polish it conspicuously with a napkin, and then walk down the aisle eating the apple and commenting on how delicious and refreshing it was. Then he told the boy to try again. This time he sold every apple. The difference? The apples had been made attractive to the potential customers.
This story can remind us of one way we can interest others in the Gospel of Jesus Christ: Make it attractive to them--show them the difference it has made in our own lives. That is best done by following the words of Paul in Colossians 4:5. "Be wise," he said, "in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity" (NIV). If we show kindness, love, and compassion to others, those who observe us will wonder why, and that may give us an opening to tell them about the beauty of God's love for them. ~~
--"Dear God, You have given us so much by providing our salvation. Help us to make the Gospel attractive to others by the way we shine Jesus' light on those we encounter each day." prayer amen~~
--JUDGMENT~~
“For, lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is his thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, The LORD, The God of hosts, is his name.” (Amos 4:13)
-This awesome ascription of judgmental power to God is in the midst of a dire prophecy by Amos to the ten-tribe northern kingdom of Israel. He had reminded them of earlier judgments, including even that of Sodom and Gomorrah, concluding with the fearsome warning: “Prepare to meet thy God, O Israel” (Amos 4:12).
-Then, in our text verse, he seems to carry them still further back in time to remind them of an even greater destruction. The great winds of the earth, like its rains, first blew over its surfaces at the time of the mighty Deluge (Genesis 8:1), and the present mountains of the earth likewise rose out of the churning waters of the Flood (Psalm 104:6-9). It was at the time of the Flood that dark clouds first obscured the sunlight which before had perpetually shown through the pre-Flood “waters which were above the firmament” (Genesis 1:7), which had then condensed and fallen to the earth in great torrents from “the windows of heaven” (Genesis 7:11).
This awful judgment had come because the antediluvians, like the Israelites, had rejected their Creator and gone after other gods (Genesis 6:5). As if to confirm that he was, indeed, referring to the great Deluge, Amos, a few verses later, exhorted the Israelites to “seek him . . . that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth” (Amos 5:8).
It is dangerous and foolish for any nation or any person to question the true God of Creation. He made all things, He knows all things, and He judges all things. “The LORD, The God of hosts, is his name.”
--The Rock of Offense
“Give glory to the LORD your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and, while ye look for light, he turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross darkness.” bible (Jeremiah 13:16)
The figurative representations of Christ as the foundation rock of the great spiritual house of God (Matthew 16:18; Ephesians 2:20; 1 Peter 2:6) and also as the water-yielding rock of sustenance in the wilderness (1 Corinthians 10:4) are two of the great symbols of the Bible.
But for those who reject Him, He becomes “a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offense. . . . And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken” (Isaiah 8:14-15).
Not only will the stone cause such a one to stumble, but Jesus said, “And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder” (Matthew 21:44).
“Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient” (1 Peter 2:7-8).
Thus the stone of stumbling, which is Christ, is also the Word, and it is deadly dangerous to stumble over the holy Scriptures. One should give glory to God before darkness falls and he stumbles upon the dark mountain in the shadow of death.
---THE WRITING OF GOD ~
--By: Henry M. Morris, Ph.D.
---Evidence for Creation
“And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables.”
-- (Exodus 32:16) crackthebook
--In this verse is the first occurrence in the Bible of the word “writing” and, appropriately enough, it is speaking of “the writing of God” rather than the writings of men. The reference, of course, is to the two tables of the law, the Ten Commandments, “written with the finger of God” (Exodus 31:18) and rewritten on a second set of stone tables to replace the first, once they were shattered (Exodus 34:1).
All Scripture is divinely inspired, but the Ten Commandments were divinely inscribed! This testimony of their unique importance is a sobering condemnation of any who ignore them or distort their meaning (including the one referring to the six-day creation in Exodus 20:11).
But there is another writing of God—this one recorded in the New Testament, one of even greater personal significance to the Christian: “Ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ . . . written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart” (2 Corinthians 3:3).
No longer an external standard divinely engraved in stone by the finger of God, but an internal conviction inscribed in the heart by the Spirit of God! “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them” (Hebrews 10:16).
This remarkable writing of God’s law in our hearts and minds has been accomplished because Christ came not “to destroy, but to fulfill” the law (Matthew 5:17) and “hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us” (Galatians 3:13). Now, with the law in our hearts, we have become epistles of God, “known and read of all men” (2 Corinthians 3:2), and it is vital that the writing read true and clear through our lives.
--THE DISCERNER~~
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
--- (Hebrews 4:12) crackthebook
--The Word of God (both the written Word and the living Word, Jesus Christ) is “living and energizing” and is the double-edged sword of the Spirit, piercing into the deepest recesses of body, soul, and spirit, where it “discerns” even the very thoughts and intents of our hearts.
This discernment, however, is more than just understanding or insight. The Greek word for “discerner” is 'kritikos' and is used only this one time in the Bible. Our word “critic” is derived from it, and this is an important dimension of its meaning. Its discernment is a critical, judging discernment—one which convicts and corrects, as well as one which understands.
It is paradoxical that men today presume to become critics of the Bible when it should really be the other way around. There are textual critics who sort through the various ancient manuscripts of the Bible, trying to arrive at the original text; there are the “higher critics” who critique vocabularies and concepts, trying to show that the traditional authors did not actually write the books attributed to them; and then there are many other purely destructive critics who criticize the Bible’s miracles, morals, and everything else, hoping thereby to justify their rebellion against the Word.
-But the Bible still stands! It stands in judgment on our lives and our subconscious motives. It will have the final word when “the books [are] opened . . . and the dead [are] judged out of those things which were written in the books” (Revelation 20:12).
star It is far better to heed the constructive criticism of the Word now than to hear its condemnation later.
---GOD IS FAITHFUL~~
“God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.”
----(1 Corinthians 1:9)-- bible
When we place our trust in Jesus Christ as omnipotent Creator and gracious Redeemer, He then faithfully undertakes to provide everything we need to live an effective, fruitful, victorious Christian life.
For example, when we are tempted to sin or are tested in any other way, “God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it” (1 Corinthians 10:13).
In this connection, He undertakes to ground us firmly in His truth and to keep us from moral and spiritual harm. “The Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil” (2 Thessalonians 3:3).
When we do sin, however, He assures us that “if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). With all our failings, He has undertaken to eventually perfect us in Christ, and He faithfully will continue this until it is done. “And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; . . . Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it” (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24).
All that He has promised, He will do. Even when we are unfaithful to Him, He remains faithful to us. “If we believe not [that is, ‘are unfaithful’], yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself” (2 Timothy 2:13).
Today’s verse above, assuring us of God’s faithfulness, follows the promise that He will “confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 1:8). Therefore, we seek also to be faithful. “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised)” (Hebrews 10:23).
----FOLLOW THE LEADER ~~
~~We must have confidence that God is more able to lead us than the devil is able to deceive us. God tells us in Isaiah 41:10, "Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you. Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand." We need not fear being swept away by deception, and we need not fear the hooks of doubt and unbelief snaring us and pulling us from the arms of our Savior. Jesus is a Good Shepherd. He said in John 10, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me" (v27, KJV) and "My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand" (v29, NASB).
-- bible
If we are following, He is fully capable of leading us and keeping us in our faith. We simply need to be obedient to do the things He has given us to do. He is faithful to do the rest. The Holy Spirit's job description, according to Jesus, is to guide us into all truth. He is, after all, the Spirit of Truth (John 16:13). God tells us in Psalm 119 that His Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path, so if we keep our ways according to His Word, we will always have a clear path to walk on.
Proverbs 4:18 tells us, "But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, that shines brighter and brighter until the full day." As we walk in the righteousness that is in Christ Jesus, our path is meant to get brighter as we go. That means we should be able to see more clearly as we walk with Jesus, rather than being more confused and continually stumbling and tripping over the lies and deceptions of the enemy. ~~
--My Hope Is In Jesus Because He Is the MESSIAH GOD~~
--THE RIGHT REASON~~
--"The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve."
--(Mark 10:45) -- bible
-- Of course, Jesus did cure illnesses, but the real healing was achieved on the Cross. Jesus did feed the hungry, but His ultimate purpose was to satisfy our spiritual hunger and thirst. Jesus did come to deliver us-- but from Satan's grip, rather than earthly authority.
We need to make sure we are following Jesus today, not just for His blessings, but because He is God, who truly knows what we need. Because there will come a time when there will be no visible sign of blessing--when every comfort may be removed and tribulation may come because of our faith in Him.
If you've followed Christ for any other reason than because He is the promised Messiah, you will be sorely disappointed. He is Lord and King of all Creation, and He is worthy of your love, respect, and devotion. That is what will sustain you when the difficulties arise.
---REMEMBERING / JESUS IS GOD!
-"I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you." --(PSALM 119:11)
--One difficult part of growing older is the fear of short-term memory loss. But Dr. Benjamin Mast, an expert on Alzheimer's, offers encouragement. He says that patient's brains are often so "well worn" and "habitual" that they can hear an old hymn and sing along to every word. He suggests that spiritual disciplines such as reading Scripture, praying, and singing hymns cause truth to become "embedded" in our brains, ready to be accessed when prompted.
-In Psalm 119 we read how the power of hiding God's words in our heart can strengthen us, teach us obedience, and direct our footsteps (vv. 28,67,133). This in turn gives us hope and understanding. Even when we begin to notice memory slips in ourselves or in the life of a loved one, God's Word, memorized years earlier, is still there, "stored up" or "treasured" in the heart. God's words will continue to speak to us.
Nothing--not even a failing memory--can separate us from His love and care. We have His word on it. ~~
Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." [John 14:6]
