I was doing some reading this morning and came across some info. There is a disease called Pink Disease which "authorities" feel has pretty much been eradicated due to withdrawing the use of mercury in teething rings. When doing a search on this disease, most info that comes up is how it affected infants and young children. One of the primary symptoms is "pink or very red" hands. Once teething ring companies quit using mercury in their products, the rate of Pink Disease dropped according to "authorities." I haven't looked further to find additional info for Pink Disease in adults.

Well.... I have pink/reddish hands. Doctors have commented on them (and so do lots of other people). No one could find an explanation for them. And the discoloration gets worse when I'm under fluorescent lighting -- which I recently learned contains mercury.

I'm just really curious to see if this weird symptom might go away at some point after my amalgams are removed and my body starts clearing mercury.

A side note, years ago when I was pregnant, I was not able to be in any room that had fluorescent lighting. I'd become nauseous, vomit, dizzy, disorientated. People thought I was crazy for blaming the lighting. But as soon as I left rooms with those lights, I was fine. It made being in the labor and delivery rooms with all that fluorescent lighting a challenge, I gotta tell you. lol

Pink's Disease was from the use of mercury in infant teething powder and other infant powders. Yes, it cause the pink rash or discoloration along with other symptoms. Many of these symptoms are the same as seen for heavy metal poisoning. Those lights are terrible. You are not crazy on that one. They always give me a blaring headache. You may find after removal your red hands do go away. I do not beleive Pinks disease has been eradicated. They just changed the name to one of many other ailments affecting children with metal poisoning. There are similarities between those symptoms and those of autistic kids.

About the fluorescent lights...

I once read an article that said that mercury-based fluorescent lighting (almost all) had been banned in hospitals in Germany.

I do not know whether it's true or not but we will be taking mercury vapor readings from fluorescent lights in a few weeks and I will be posting the results on this forum.

Russ, I'm looking forward to hearing about your findings on flourescent lighting. -Especially since I work 8 hours a day in a place with no windows and only flourescent lighting. This is why i make sure to go outside on my breaks!

Prior to amalgam removal I was noticing that I had on many mornings a very reddish triangle flairing down from my neck- sort of like a bandana. I would also have red blood blisters in the same area.
In the 2 years since total amalgam removal the condition is a lot less prevalent.
In fact when I do notice it coincides with what I call a bad mercury day. In my case, if I have the pink neck, if my ears are ringing and if my balance is a bit off then I know I will have a mercury dump day. So I take it cool and don't set up any stressful activities. I will say that these days occur a lot less than they used to. That is great news.

I had Pinks Disease when I was 6 months old, and spent 6 weeks or so in hospital. I was lucky, 25% of babies given these teething powders died, in the UK, US and Australia. I am in the UK. Unfortunately my father brought home some mercury in a jar and gave it to me to play with when i was about 8 or 9. Then I had mercury fillings in my teeth.

Yes hot, red extremities are a symptom of mercury poisoning.

Ever since I can remember I have been sick. There were many infections as a child, fatigue, shyness, sensitivity to chemicals and cognitive defects (mainly memory)

Later I was also poisoned with pesticide and developed full blown MCS. Now I have ME, MCS, FM and high thyroid anti-bodies. I have one large and one small fillings left and am wondering if i should take the chance and have them safely removed, but I am worried in case my health is not strong enough to go through with it.

and thanks for the welcome. No I have not had any removed before, but have lost a few teeth (extractions) that had a filling. I had about 5 altogether. I would also have to travel quite a distance to get it done as there is none local. How do we know if we are fit enough for removal? Just getting the anaesthesia is a big problem for me having chemical sensitivity though there is one that is not too bad for me as long as it has no adrenaline or preservative which is perhaps mercury do you think?

First up….it is a serious serious issue and its not to be rushed. And when I say rush, I mean rush as in you need to educate and understand and learn all about mercury and the many many problems people have had in removing them and detoxing the mercury out of their organs and brains, before you rush out and whip them out asap. That is exactly what I did. I rushed out and whipped one out. No protection. No understanding. No warning. And what-a-mistake-a-to-make-a. Yup one of the biggest mistakes I will ever make. A very painful mistake too. one amalgam removed without protection and boom…

So…don’t make the same mistake as me, read these two books first.

You will need to test the materials that will be used instead of amalgam, as most people can’t tolerate some of the junk put in. serum testing is via labs. Muscle testing is another way. Your dentist, when u find one, should help with this.

Don't know if this will help but when I had my last 4 amalgams removed I was so ill I thought I was on my way out. I went to the natural doc the day before to get the scoop on my health and it was not good. My blood pressure alone was 186/104 and had candida and 6 different viruses running high as well as h-pylori. When I went to my dentist the next day I first gave him the scoop on my health and gave him the choice to decide if he wanted to even still remove the fillings. I was really worried about the blood pressure but he felt sure all would be ok. It has now been 7 months and things are getting some better. Even the blood pressure is way down...not back to normal yet but looking better. I can't tell you what to do but thought you might get some reassurance by knowing that some things have improved with removal. All I know is keep reading and studying in this mercury world you are the one that has to research the conventional docs just don't get it and if they do they can't say. Keep studying the forum and you will find lots of great info. Take care and good luck!!!

I am in Durham UK. I have taken a look at those books and will order them today Wow! I am amazed that I did not get onto this before. Well I did suspect it but had so many other things to deal with it got left on the wayside. It has really given me hope.

I did some research and found two dentists, one in Edinburgh and another in Yorkshire, both journeys will be very difficult. The alternative is to stay with a friend in Berlin and get it done there. I can probably get it done in one go if i get the bad large filling extracted and the small one replaced. But point taken that i need to be careful and gain knowledge. Sorry to hear that you made the mistake of rushing in and thankyou so much for wanting to help others to avoid making the same mistake.

This realisation that it is down to YOU to take control of your own health is one of the most important things to learn. We are all taught to leave our health in the hands of the doctors, but you must reclaim it back and be in charge of your own health. Doctors, they don’t know anything about mercury and the little they pick up is usually harmful. I speak from bitter experience. so much advise comes from people that have no idea of the consequences…..

Oh yes, I agree with this. I gave up on doctors a long time ago. I have wasted a lot of time though in looking for solutions to symptoms rather than dealing with the cause. I have been researching Martin Pall's protocol in reducing the nitric oxide cycle for chemical sensitivity and was just about to order the supplements but am so pleased I have hit on the right way to go. This site should help u find a decent dentist.

You also need to remember that dentists are…..well……dentists. They are not doctors and sorting out the rest of your body is not their job, most are not trained for that. They might be able to point you in the right direction. If u find one that can help you re-build….go for it.

I would go for the dentist that you trust the most and the closer and more convenient to home the better. I had to go back to the dentist for minor adjustments to my bite.
