I dont understand but im takin ga B 100mg Complex with every B vitamin(including Inostol,choline,,B12,B6 etc) and it makes me more anxious or jittery. I dont find it help at all. Maybe its just me.
Do B Vitamins work straight away or do they take monthes to work?
Im just trying to figure out if it really is all in the mind for me or not?
I only just started taking them again and kno my concentration is worse and im more tremory.

maybe you should start on a lower dose. but i have read that taking high doses can cause abnormal thyroid and adrenal funtions. but 100mg b complex should be ok. so sorry i dont know.. my anxiety makes my life hell.sometimes.. i suffer with bad social anxiety.. ive started taking l-trytophan. it seems to work better than anti deppresants. well for me anyway!

hi tracy. here the site i got it from. www.biochemicals.com theres info on the site. there is l trytophan in the uk. but this is the onlyone i can find thats fda registered.. back in 1991 in japan i believe. it was banned. because of an japanese outbreak.a type of rare blood disease.a contamination of l trytophan,was believed.. its only been back on the market for the last couple of years.. the one from this site. has been thoughly tested.. it really relaxes me. and makes me sleep better..

B vits also increase my anxiety big time. I have now given up on them after numerous attempts. The only one I can tolerate and which actually does me good is vitamin B1.
I have read on anxiety forums fellow sufferers also get worse by the B's......

Glad im not the only one.
TRACEY, L-TRYPTOPHAN is called 5-HTP here in UK. I tried this and it made my anxiety alot worse. I felt really edgy on it but it may help you. Give it a try for a month and see how you feel.
I find RHODIOLA ROSEA helps me alot. its a stimulant but it actually helps my anxiety which is weird and thinks my anxiety is from depression and understimulated nervous system

I know that supplementing with B vitamins can be very tricky and have side effects because no vitamin company can really get the correct balance of each B vitamin correctly-- especially those vitamin companies that make synthetic multi-vitamins. Too much of one type of B vitamin actually creates a deficiency in another of the B vitamins within the body-- according to Adelle Davis, an older nutritionist who wrote alot of books on nutrition.
I'm wondering if you may want to try just taking something like Brewers yeast -- unless you are not able to digest brewers yeast.
Maybe you can concentrate on eating more foods with high amounts of all the range of B Vitamins and skip the B complex supplements you are using. That would mean eating alot more fruits and vegetables -- and more organic and fresh than the produce treated for a longer shelf life.
Green leafy vegetables, Squash- like Honey Nut squash-- furits including Bananas, Papayas, Mango's , etc., and eliminate flour and refined sugar products from your diet to make room for the extra produce.
I know what has helped me during times of anxety and anxiousness is the following:
1- Valerian root tea -- (even puts me to sleep at night!) 2- Melatonin supplements or tea
3- Kava Kava capsules (used sparingly)
4- listening to relaxation instrumental music
5- Turkey
6- a few drops of "Rescue Remedy" under the tongue.
7- Prayer while getting away from everyone.

While most of us are deficient in B12, some forms can methylate the mercury in us. My ND told me not to take the B12 on my chelating days....that is the one derived from cyanocobalamin...or there could be yeast in the B12 tablets too, that is a possibility too. I too have had problems with B Vitamins. I donot know but do you get problems within the same day of taking the B vitamins?
I thought maybe it was just me creating symptoms but I really do think B vitamins make me more moody or anxious too. I took the B vitamins complex from Holland and barrets.

I started taking B12 supplements (500x recommended daily dose) and it felt like they were making me worse so I stopped. Now I just supplement with a little B12 every few days (being a vegetarian) to make sure I don't get deficient as not getting enough B12 can cause problems aswell.

James...or anyone else taking VitB6 for that matter...how much Vit B6 are you taking? I'm not too sure about the other vitamins but I know we can overdose on B6. Years ago I went to a private clinic for PMT (PMS) and I was prescribed B6, which is also called Pyridoxine. It worked brilliantly with my depression and my mood swings and I was overjoyed at the result. After a couple of months I began to get feelings of panic..it was like a real dread feeling (I even had suscidal thoughts..thankfully they only lasted a few seconds..but they were there) and my hands would shake terribly. I also had pins and needles in my hands and they would go numb sometimes, so much so that I was unable to type, which was not good seeing as I was a Secretary. I began to feel really ill on a daily basis. I became anxious and jitterly and was a complete wreck. I didn't feel like 'me' any more. I went to see my GP and he wasn't sure what was wrong with me. He then asked me if I was using any 'over the counter' medication from the chemist. I told him that I wasn't but that I was taking Vitamin B6. He asked me what dosage and when I told him he nearly exploded! The clinic had prescribed 2 x 250mg tablets of B6 per day. My GP said that I should only be taking 50mg per day and that nobody should take more than 100mg as this can lead to a number of health issues including numbness in hands and feet and permanent nerve damage....and there I was taking 1,000mg per day! I stopped taking the B6 completely (and used Evening Primrose Oil instead) and my symptoms went away. Apparently, as B6 is water soluable and so isn't stored in our bodies it was thought at one time to have been safe to take such high doses but research found that it wasn't. i take 300mg of B6 daily, its helped me so much with PMS symptoms, i have taken this amount for ages. 50mg a day will not do anything for me. You can take 500mg a day. it must be taken with other B's. Joe, have you tried Solgar, B complex, its the best!

Yes I used to takes loads of B vitamins. The holland and barrets complex 2 or 3 a day which is over 300mgper B vitamin and alone took Vitamin B5 and B6 and B12 as 1000Mg daily...I stopped them now. I have heard about the damage. Its so easy to get confused as people have gotten better taking massive doses of Inositol or B6 or B12 but you have to be carefulas I believethey set panic offi n people.
Im using EyeQ Fish oil(It includes all of these in low doses apart from EPA) EPA,low DHA, Evening Primrose Oil, Vit E, VitB6,B12,Folic Acid andMagnesium and Zinc.

I am of the view that (good) supplements are very helpful BUT taking anything every day is probably not wise. Let the body do it's own thing now and then.
Nutritional yeast is great. Here is my smoothie recipe, make it in a blender that will crush ice or get a real smoothie machine at Walmart or Sears or wherever:
(makes 2-3 big smoothies)
2 bananas 2 granny smith apples A few strawberries maybe throw a plum or kiwi in there Yogurt with active cultures, any flavor or plain maybe throw a tad of cottage cheese in there Juice of 1/2 a lemon 1/3 cup whey protein powder 1/3 cup nutritional yeast 4 ice cubes 1/2 cup OJ 1/2 cup milk 1 gram Vit C powder 1 teaspoon flaxseed oil 1/2 teaspoon spirulina 2 teaspoons or 3 magnesium citrate (premix with a little warm water to dissolve maybe throw some Vit E in there...
you get the idea,,, even the kids will drink this cocktail and ask for more!
Do not substitute whey with soy. Whey helps your body make gluthaione, someone spell that for me. Too much soy may not be good for you. Too much whey is never a problem.
Some people say not to blender the whey at high speed, maybe depends on the type but it's the only way that I know of to get in there.

Yes I dont understand why they say B Vitamins Help. I seem to get more tension or tics in neck with taking them and feel more unable to concentrate so.....or jittery lol
I wish I could do some good tests to balance everything out on what I need but no one cares.
I have to take stuff daily as my ydepression comes back...Omega 3 EPA and EPO is a must otherwise I get really bad sick pressure dperession headaches...
If I was to stop supplementation how long does it take to get out of the system such as B vitamins and Fish oils? I stopped for 3 weeks and couldnt handle it so went back on them all again but dont want to live on supplements etc.

I was making the same mistake also ,before my doctor ran a blood cortisol test (morning and evening) every time I took b vitamins or b complex I would feel very depressed or anxiety or both at the same time the following day ,I found out that my cortisol levels were very high already,and some b vitamins especialy b-5 ( pantothenic acid ) and b-6 in higher doses can elevate your cortisol levels even higher and make you feel worst , centum ( mens) multi-vitamin has the amount proper amount of b vitamins that my body can hadle without making me feel bad the next day (good luck and I hope this info helps out)
