How To Eliminate A "License Expired" Message

If you are seeing a "License Expired" message when starting the HART On CD program, this page will help you eliminate this message.

The HART On CD program may display a license expired message when starting. If you see this message, follow the steps below to eliminate the message.

STEP #1 - Install the Latest Update

Normally, installing the latest HART On CD update will eliminate the "License Expired" message.

The latest update along with instructions for installing it can be found at this address:

herballure.com/update

Once you've installed the update, click the desktop icon to start the HART On CD program. If you don't have a desktop icon, you can start the program from the Windows "Start" menu.

If the "License Expired" message does not appear, then this problem is resolved and you do not need to continue this toubleshooting procedure.

If you still receive the "License Expired" message, then continue with step #2 below.

STEP #2 - Delete "Lice.xxx" files

Now, we need to delete one or more files if they exist in your HART On CD folder.

Using Windows Explorer, browse to this folder on your computer hard drive:

C:\Program Files\HART On CD\

(You can start Windows Explorer by right-clicking on the Windows start button and then left-clicking "Explore".)

Now, locate and delete all of the following files if they are found in the HART On CD folder:

  • lice.101
  • lice.102
  • lice.103

Now try starting the HART On CD program. If the "License Expired" message does not appear, then this problem is resolved and you do not need to continue this troubleshooting procedure.

If you still receive the "License Expired" message, then continue with step #3 below.

If you happen to receive an "Illegal Software" error when starting the HART On CD program, continue with step #4 below.

STEP #3 - Reinstall the Program

Now, we need to reinstall the entire HART On CD program.

Click the link below to go to the HART On CD download page:

Now, click the "Click Here" link to download the program. Make sure you click the "Run" or "Open" button when Windows asks what you want to do with the link you clicked on.

Now, follow the on-screen instructions to install the HART On CD program on your computer. During installation, you may encounter a message that says:

"A file you are copying is not newer than..."

If you encounter this message, be sure to click the "No To All" button or the installation may not work correctly.

Once the installation is complete, restart your computer and try starting the HART On CD program. If the "License Expired" message does not appear, then this problem is resolved and you do not need to continue this troubleshooting procedure.

If you still receive the "License Expired" message, then call Herb Allure technical support for help.

If you happen to receive an "Illegal Software" error when starting the HART On CD program, continue with step #4 below.

STEP #4 - Resolving the "Illegal Software" Message

To resolve the "Illegal Software" message, using Windows Explorer, browse to this folder on your computer hard drive:

C:\Program Files\HART On CD\

(You can start Windows Explorer by right-clicking on the Windows start button and then clicking "Explore".)

Now, locate the following file:

  • sysx3.dll

Rename this file to:

  • fr140.dll

Now, try starting the HART On CD program. If the "Illegal Software " message does not appear, then this problem is resolved and you do not need to continue this troubleshooting procedure.
